General Info   |   Familial ALS

General Information

There are many excellent websites that provide information and resources about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s disease.  However, detailed information about the familial form of ALS (fALS) is more sparse and therefore the focus of our website.  (fALS is also the major focus of our research.)

For general information about ALS, please visit these links to the ALS Association, Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Motor Neuron Disease Association, and ALS-TDI.  These web sites cover important topics such as:

  • What is ALS?
  • What are the symptoms of ALS?
  • How is ALS diagnosed?
  • How is ALS treated?
  • What causes ALS?
  • Who gets ALS?
  • What happens to someone with ALS?
